#3: Your friends are always cooler than you.

Life Lesson 3: Your friends are always cooler than you.
When we were originally naming the life lessons, it started off with Devin and me randomly naming them. We bounced back and forth between “life lessons with Devin and Tony” and “life lessons with Tony and Devin.” After arguing a few times, we were like, “see there, life lesson 3, your friends are always cooler than you. We made that statement because we kept wanting to put each other first.
Throughout our lives we are told that we should be selfless, humble, etc. Along with that we should put others before ourselves because if we put ourselves first then we are selfish. We are always instructed and told how we should be more selfless and not be selfish because being selfish is such a bad thing. It also looks bad on how people view us.
We should continually help our friends and lift them up in everything they do. When we lift each other up, we help each other out. If there were no one to lift us up then we wouldn’t get along in life as easily. Things would be a lot more difficult.
We are also often told that we don’t pick our friends, but they pick us, or they are picked for us. Our friends are put in our lives for many reasons. And if we want them to stay there then we should treat them with the utmost respect and love. In Matthew 7:12, it says, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you.”   With that said, if you want those friends to stick around, you should treat them amazingly, because if you want to be treated amazingly then you should treat them the same way, if not better.
Overall, I believe that we should always let our friends know that we think they’re cooler than us so that we can get respect in return, be more humble, and be more selfless.
